History: Rex's Wiki (He's 15 in season 1 however, as stated in the series description)
Personality:
("I protect people and property! ... okay, property, not so much!")

On the surface, Rex is the typical impulsive, brash, and snarky teenage superhero subtype that will risk his life to save everyone he can. ("Why would you save someone like me?" "Because a person is a person, no matter how messed up they are.") And that honestly gets you over halfway there to understanding him.

But Rex's story is not one of a stressed out teenager trying to juggle school and a secret superhero career. He's a part of an international military force that has budgeted billions of dollars and hundreds of personnel to back his ability to fight and cure other EVOs. Rex also is tutored so he doesn't have to juggle school. The adults around him treat him like a teenager and support him emotionally, and not just because his powers short out if his mental health goes into the gutter or bad emotions overwhelm him. He's learned to be more open about his emotions than most teenage boys as a result, and he's found that others supporting you makes you stronger. And he's comfortable playing ten thousand rounds of 1 on 1 basketball with his best friend Noah even though he almost never makes a basket while talking smack to each other. Or even when people need support, he can sit and talk quietly by their side.

But even so, Rex still has his mother's temper. He'll get frustrated about normal things, but he'll get livid when he sees abuse, mistreatment, or violence towards innocent people (or at least people who don't deserve it). He'll say things he doesn't mean to loved ones to hurt them in the worst way possible (like many teenagers in arguments, "I really hate you." ... "When this is all over, I never want to see you again!") to hide his fear and upset. Rex sees beyond just EVO rights being important, but everyone's rights being important, and he wears the Human Rights Campaign logo on his t-shirt as a result (intentional by Word of God).

Often, Rex is also chaos incarnate, going around in life as if driven by a motor. He loves to prank but always bites off more than he can chew (often just by laughing too obnoxiously and celebrating too hard). His amusement or a sudden fun thought can sweep away any common sense about consequences or planning. Sometimes his mouth blurts out something before he even has a chance to think if it's a good idea. Even in the middle of battle, he sometimes just has to mess around and have fun. He enjoys danger and enjoys fighting/sparring, and that's where he gets his most of his aggression out so that he's mellow the rest of the time. Also, being a forever-hungry teenager who is even hungrier because of his powers, Rex quite often goes on midnight snack runs.

For all of his confidence, Rex fears messing up or looking bad. As a holdover from what he learned while under Quarry (a literal mob boss) in his last iteration, Rex will brag confidentially like an asshole during anything that's related to physical might. Because that's what made him look strong in Quarry's eyes and made Quarry seem not to question how deeply he cared about his friends. Over the course of his time at Providence, he's learned how to work well with others instead of always having others rely on him, and his words aren't quite so harsh.

His other fear is being unloved, because his amnesia means he has no memory of his family but he still remembers how family is supposed to be, as his knowledge isn't impacted. EVOs often get thrown out of their families homes, often enough that most rename themselves in reference to their new bodies. But Rex kept his name because it was the only thing he had from his family. Rex was nearly broken by the idea that César didn't love him, because he knew César did, yet César was acting like he didn't truly care deeply because Black Knight would've realized César planned to undermine her goals. In fact, he almost died when a shapeshifter used this fear to short Rex's powers out entirely and make him feel worthless.

Rex will adjust to not having video games to keep him entertained, because one thing he loves to do is do "normal people things" because as much as he loves his job, he hates being separated from humanity. Living amongst civilians is normal! Fixing things is normal! Farming things is normal! Finding brass on the ground is normal!

And the last thing to address is Rex's suitability for things that happen in Pumpkin Hollow. Yes, he has courage and is confident in his fighting abilities. Rex's suitability comes from what he fights and what he deals with on a day to day basis. He fights and cures people/animals subjected to crazy body horrors that can never be used in live action. He fights monsters. He's dealt with plagues. He's used to a world that's just as "on fire" as Pumpkin Hollow's current situation. Rex carried the world on his shoulders as the only person who could cure EVOs then thwarted the source of true evil: end stage capitalism.

Initial Game Plan:
Move into the homes of his brother, his brother's roommate, and his future SIL, eat a bunch of their food, and make their lives a whole lot livelier. He'll be reuniting with his brother as of very late November, and César will give him the journal that ghost!Rex wrote to give to canon!Rex. Rex then will spend a lot of time around the town being excited to be IN a town instead of a military base, and try to make friends while helping out with his powers. Also, intermittent teenage chaos.
RP Interests: Having Rex make friends with people his age and adults, exploring how his legal status back home affects him mentally because he likes to pretend it doesn't (considered non-human without rights), and get him further socialized in a non-military setting. He has completed the Hero's Journey when it comes to fighting, so his next path of growth is becoming a part of a community and how to support others with his heart rather than his giant fists. Rex's story was "what if the teenage hero had enough emotional support from the adults around him and was pretty much unkillable?" His lack of civilian/family life experience in his current iteration and his very strong opinions about how things are supposed to be means he has a lot of room for emotional growth. He'll also have to learn how to live with a family proper, and will ask for outside advice.
Preferred Job: Laborer (for now)
NSFW-friendly?: NOPE. And he has a girlfriend back home so he'll only date for funsies at most.
Powers Nerf Note: Here are my proposals for nerfing Rex's powers since he's honestly too powerful.
- Extremely serious or instant kill wounds will actually kill him (think piercing/slashing/elemental damage while generally immune to bludgeoning)
- (Not a nerf, just a note) Only resistant to more magical poisons rather than outright immune like he is with physical ones.
- Would only be resistant rather than immune to magic illnesses
- His "method of last defense" AKA his giant/wild mecha form cannot normally be triggered by near death unless a giant mecha battle gets approved by the mods
- When his ability to fix/communicate with machines would fast-forward the game plot too much, magical interference can be blamed.
- also his active nanite count stays about the same and FTLOG, those things stay INSIDE his body, unless there's a super cool mod approved reason for them not to
